Helen Lucia Moore, age 83, died February 22, 2015 at Homestead Manor in Denton, Maryland. Mrs. Moore was a wonderful mother and homemaker, gifted artist, and devoted Bible teacher. She was married to her first husband, the Rev. Frank Lucia, a Methodist minister with the Peninsula United Methodist conference, for 27 years until his death in 1984. She was married to her second husband, Dr. Charles F. Moore, a dentist, in Seaford, Delaware, for 22 years until his death in 2009. Mrs. Moore was an extremely talented artist. She was a Delaware High School teacher. She taught art 27 years in the Brandywine and Milford school districts. Under her instruction, many of her students competed in and won national competitions. Her limited edition print of Barratt’s Chapel was chosen for distribution among the members of the Methodist Church in the Delmarva Peninsula. Many of her paintings and drawings became limited edition prints. After she retired from teaching school, she continued to paint and work in ministry. Mrs. Moore is well known for her ministry of teaching and sharing the Good News about Jesus Christ. She is survived by two daughters, Donna Lucia-Downs of Centreville, Maryland and Andrea L. Sharp of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; a step-daughter, Marcia Moore, M.D. of Charlottesville, Virginia; a sister, Berta Salios of Seaford, Delaware; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, February 26 from 6-8 pm at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Centreville, MD. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 27 at Barratt’s Chapel, Frederica, DE. The burial is to follow at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
